Humboldt Athletics' 37th Annual Celebrity Dinner & Sports Auction Set For April 15

3/1/2023 11:00:00 AM

ARCATA, Calif. -- Cal Poly Humboldt Athletics announces the 37th Annual Celebrity Dinner & Sports Auction that will take place on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at the Sapphire Palace in the Blue Lake Casino & Hotel in Blue Lake, California. The evening will start at 5:00 PM with a social hour and the program will follow at 6:00 PM.

The Cal Poly Humboldt 37th Annual Celebrity Dinner & Sports Auction is an important fundraising event that benefits student athlete scholarships at the university. By raising funds through this event, Cal Poly Humboldt is able to provide financial support to student athletes who may otherwise struggle to afford the costs of tuition, books, and other expenses. This event is crucial in helping to ensure that all student athletes have access to the resources they need to succeed academically and athletically. Without this financial support, many talented athletes may not have the opportunity to attend college or participate in collegiate sports. By attending and supporting the Cal Poly Humboldt 37th Annual Celebrity Dinner & Sports Auction, individuals and organizations can make a meaningful impact on the lives of student athletes and contribute to the success of the university as a whole.

Jeremy Affeldt, three-time World Series Champion, former major league pitcher, humanitarian, public speaker, author, and businessman, will serve as the event's keynote speaker.

Jeremy Affeldt's baseball career spanned 14-years with the Kansas City Royals, Colorado Rockies, Cincinnati Reds, and his last seven years with the San Francisco Giants. He played on all three Giants World Champion teams in 2010, 2012, and 2014.

For his career, he has a record of 2-0, 0.86 ERA in 33 postseason games, the third-lowest in baseball history among pitchers with at least 30 innings. He has 22 straight scoreless postseason appearances since allowing one run in Game 1 of the 2010 World Series, one shy of Mariano Rivera's record. He retired from baseball on Sunday, October 4, 2015.

Jeremy is an active leader to end human trafficking and modern-day slavery and advocates supporting and feeding the hungry at home and around the globe. He founded Generation Alive, a non-profit organization that teaches and inspires young people to act by serving others.

He is the author of To Stir A Movement, Life, Justice, and Major League Baseball, is heard weekly on KNBR Radio, and is an analyst for select Major League Baseball games. Jeremy was featured in a national television commercial for General Motors Corporation, 'Precision Matters Fastball,' and a national digital commercial for CarMax and Major League Baseball, 'Drive What Matters.'

He is co-founder and CEO of Free Roam Brewing Company in Boerne, Texas -- a world-class microbrewery including a state-of-the-art beer production facility and tasting room that also gives back. He is also the host of the Built For the Storm podcast that originates from Free Roam Brewery that coincides with his new book scheduled for release in June 2023.
